Appeal System FAQ

Everything you need to know about submitting and managing appeals

The Basics

What is an appeal?
An appeal is your opportunity to request a review of a moderation decision. If your account was banned, your page was removed, or your content was deleted, you can submit an appeal asking moderators to reconsider.
Why would I need to appeal?

You might need to appeal if:

  • You believe your ban or content removal was a mistake
  • You think the moderator misunderstood the context
  • Your content was incorrectly flagged by automated systems
  • You were unaware of a rule violation and want a second chance
  • You have new information that wasn't available during the initial review
Is submitting an appeal free?
Yes! Submitting an appeal is completely free and available to all users. However, you can only submit one appeal per banned item.

When to Appeal

What can I appeal?

You can appeal:

  • Account Bans: If your account has been permanently or temporarily banned
  • Page Removals: If one of your pages was banned or removed
  • Comment Removals: If a comment you posted was deleted
  • Message Removals: If a private message was removed
When should I NOT appeal?
Don't appeal if:
  • You knowingly violated the rules and have no new information
  • You're just angry and want to vent (this will hurt your case)
  • You're planning to be dishonest about what happened
  • You've already had an appeal denied for the same item
How long do I have to submit an appeal?
You can submit an appeal at any time after your content is banned or removed. There's no strict deadline, but submitting sooner is generally better.

How to Submit an Appeal

Where do I submit an appeal?

Visit the Appeal Submission Page while logged in. You'll see a list of all your banned or removed content that can be appealed.

Quick Access: You can also access this from your account menu → "Submit Appeal"
What information do I need to provide?

You'll need to provide:

  • Which item you're appealing (selected from your list)
  • Why the decision should be reversed (minimum 50 characters)
  • Agreement to the appeal terms (checkbox)
Can I submit multiple appeals for the same thing?

No. You can only submit one appeal per item. Once you submit an appeal for a specific ban or removal, you cannot submit another one for that same item.

Make it count! Since you only get one chance, take your time and write a thoughtful, honest appeal.

Writing a Good Appeal

What makes a good appeal?

A good appeal is:

  • Honest: Don't lie or make false claims
  • Specific: Explain exactly why the decision was wrong
  • Respectful: Stay calm and professional
  • Clear: Easy to read and understand
  • Detailed: Provide context and relevant information
✓ GOOD Example:
"I believe my comment was removed in error. I posted a link to a legitimate news article from BBC.com about gaming news. I think the auto-moderation system may have flagged it as spam because it contained a URL. The article was directly relevant to the discussion about upcoming game releases, and I was contributing to the conversation. I understand the no-spam rule and wasn't trying to promote anything - just sharing a credible source."
✗ BAD Example:
"This is ridiculous. I didn't do anything wrong and you guys always ban innocent people. Your moderation is terrible. Unban me now or I'm leaving this site forever."
What should I include in my appeal?

Include these elements when possible:

  • What happened: Briefly describe the ban or removal
  • Why it was wrong: Explain why you believe it was a mistake
  • Context: Provide any relevant background information
  • Understanding: Show you understand the rules
  • Future behavior: If applicable, explain how you'll avoid this in the future
What should I avoid in my appeal?
Avoid these mistakes:
  • Aggressive or hostile language
  • Threats or ultimatums
  • Lying about what happened
  • Blaming others or making excuses
  • Writing in all caps or using excessive punctuation!!!
  • Being vague or not providing enough detail
  • Demanding immediate action
How long should my appeal be?

The minimum is 50 characters, but a good appeal is typically 150-500 characters (2-5 sentences). Be thorough but concise.

Quality over quantity: A short, honest appeal is better than a long, rambling one.

After You Submit

What happens after I submit my appeal?

Here's what to expect:

  1. Confirmation: You'll see a success message and the appeal will show as "Pending Review"
  2. Queue: Your appeal enters the moderator review queue
  3. Review: A moderator will review your appeal and the original content
  4. Decision: The moderator will approve or deny your appeal
  5. Result: Your content status will be updated accordingly
How long does it take to get a decision?

Our target is 3-5 business days. However, this can vary depending on:

  • Number of appeals in the queue
  • Complexity of your case
  • Availability of moderators
  • Weekends and holidays
Be patient: Moderators review appeals carefully. Rushing them or submitting duplicate appeals won't speed up the process.
Can I check the status of my appeal?

Yes! Visit your Appeal Page to see the status. It will show as either:

  • Pending Review: Still waiting for a moderator decision
  • Approved: Your appeal was accepted and content restored
  • Denied: Your appeal was rejected and ban/removal remains
Can I cancel my appeal after submitting?
No. Once submitted, appeals cannot be cancelled. They will be reviewed by a moderator.

Appeal Decisions

What happens if my appeal is approved?
If approved:
  • Account bans: Your account will be unbanned and access fully restored
  • Page bans: Your page will be unbanned and visible again
  • Comment/Message removals: Your content will be restored and visible
Your content status will change to "Approved" and everything will be back to normal!
What happens if my appeal is denied?

If your appeal is denied:

  • The original ban or removal stays in place
  • The moderator may provide a reason for the denial
  • You cannot submit another appeal for that same item
  • The decision is final
Learn from it: If your appeal is denied, review the community guidelines and make sure you understand them before posting again.
Can I appeal the appeal decision?

No. Appeal decisions are final. You cannot appeal the result of an appeal.

This is why it's important to: Take your time writing your appeal, be honest and specific, and provide all relevant information the first time.
Will I be notified of the decision?

Currently, you can check your appeal status by visiting your Appeal Page. We're working on adding email notifications for appeal decisions in the future.
